People of the Monolith is the title of the second offering by Unaussprechlichen Kulten who follows in the same musical style as on the previous album Wake Up in the Night of Walpurgis, but this time around the production is better and clearer I am certainly not taking anything away from the first album. I have lost a bit of interest in the brutal death metal genre, but Unaussprechlichen Kulten has sparked my interest up again with an outstanding second full-length album.

Twenty-seven minutes and twelve seconds is the length of People of the Monolith I just think the album should have at least been around forty minutes long because the music of Unaussprechlichen Kulten is just that good and its technical at times, but not none of the boring technical showboating crap. The lyrics on the album deal with Cthulhu mythos, which is an interesting reading I actually sat down and read some of the lyrics while listening to the album and the lyrics bring on a sense of wonder and thinking. On People of the Monolith no bass player is present, but this is not needed due to the guitars having a brutal grinding heavy tone to complete the album. Almonsin-Metraton is one of the standout tracks on the album mainly due to grind warp speed of the guitars of Joseph Curwen and Black Gore.

The vocals on People of the Monolith are a combination of growls and death guttural vocals. Ritual Monolith of Tsathoggua for some reason reminds me a bit of US brutal death metal band Deeds of Flesh. Outro: HP.L. Back to Leng closes out People of the Monolith on a brutal note with crushing guitars and by surprise Unaussprechlichen Kulten has a killer cover bonus song of the death anthem Conflict Within by Sadistic Intent and its a scorher the song is not listed on the track listing.

If you are into brutal death metal I would recommend in buying a copy of People of the Monolith, its well worth the money spent. The album does not come in a standard jewel case or digipack, but in a seven-inch cover type packaging.
